Dr. Rebekah Fitzsimmons, Georgia Institute of Technology
Arrived at the Georgia Institute of Technology as a Lecturer in the School of Language, Media, and Communication after receiving her PhD in English from the University of Florida. Her dissertation is titled “The Chronicles of Professionalization: The Expert, the Child, and the Making of American Children’s Literature.” Her work has been published in Children’s Literature and the Journal of the Fantastic in the Arts and she has forthcoming book chapters in Prizing Children’s Literature and The Early Reader in Children’s Literature and Culture. Research interests include children’s literature, young adult literature, genre conventions, highbrow/lowbrow taste distinctions in American culture, best sellers, adaptation theory, histories of childhood and utopian/dystopian literature and theory.
