Dr. Sara Schwebel, University of South Carolina
Joined the University of South Carolina Department of English Language and Literature as an associate professor after receiving her PhD in History of American Civilization from Harvard University. Her areas of specialization include Children’s and Young Adult literature, American literature and culture, and American history/American literature as school curriculum. One of her current research projects involve editing a print critical edition of Scott O’Dell’s landmark children’s novel Island of the Blue Dolphins (1960) and building a virtual museum and digital archive centered on the novel and the historical actor upon whom it is based: the so-called Lone Woman of San Nicolas Island. In addition, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Literature Association.
