Visitors

The Baldwin Library is located in the Department of Special and Area Studies Collections’ Reading Room on the second floor of Smathers Library. If you are unfamiliar with the University of Florida campus, please look at our campus map.

Researchers are encouraged to telephone, email, or write at least 3 days in advance of their visit if they are off campus, and one day in advance if they are on campus. Please contact special@uflib.ufl.edu.

Upon arriving in the Reading Room, patrons will be asked to fill out a registration form and put their belongings into a locker. Belongings that are approved for use are: pencils (no pens or markers!), notebooks, laptops, and digital cameras. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Reading Room Reference Desk at 352-273-2757.

Special programs

The Baldwin Library also hosts special programs, such as special events for children and presentations to community groups. Please allow two weeks advance notice to schedule your program. Programs can be tailored to a specific group, or can be more general in nature. These programs can range from 1 hour to 2-3 hours.
