Digital Children’s Literature Special Collections

Baldwin Library Digital Collection: Over 5800 fully digitized children’s texts from the Baldwin Library of Historical Children’s Literature. A continually growing archive of children’s books published in the United States and Great Britain during the 19th century. The foundation for this on-line, digitized Collection is a cataloging and preservation project covering the years 1850-1900 funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).

Literature for Children : This collection is part of the Publication of Archival Library and Museum Materials project comprised of digitized volumes from the Departments of Special Collections at several of the State University System of Florida libraries. It is a collection of digitized titles published predominantly in the United States and Great Britain, from the 17th through the 20th centuries.

International Children’s Digital Library: A collection of books that represents outstanding historical and contemporary books from throughout the world.

General Resources

Library Catalog: You can use the Library catalog to search for materials from the Baldwin Library. To use the catalog, type in a keyword, title, or author. Remember to type in an author’s name by last name, first name. You can then limit your search by location. You will want to choose, “Smathers Libraries, Special Collections” and then “Baldwin Library.”

Additional Children’s Literature Resources

The Center for Children’s Literature and Culture is an interdisciplinary center based in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Florida. Members of the Center include faculty and researchers from the University community; teachers, librarians, media specialists; and artists and writers creating works for children in print and other media.
